Terms & Conditions

FREEDOM DANCE - PARENTAL AGREEMENT

This agreement should be read in conjunction with the Freedom Dance COVID-19 Policy & Site Management document below.

In order for us to operate our provision safely, protecting children, families and staff, we need to make some changes to our usual provision. This parental agreement states specific actions that must be followed at all times. Unfortunately, if these actions are not adhered to your child's place will be at risk and the safety of others. We must all work together for our children to safely participate in the dancing that they love.

Please ensure the parent or carers who are responsible for drop off or collection are aware of this and agree to the questions asked when booking in relation to this. This replaces a signature as we are paperless for everyones safety.

SOCIAL DISTANCING

No parents will be allowed in the premises, drop off and collection are from separate entry and exit points. A one-way system will be in operation. All gathering must be avoided.

Drop off at the Front Door of the Oasis Centre students are to line up socially distanced in line with the markers on the wall - please allow 2 metre distance.

Parents of pupils age 6 years + please ideally remain in the car and witness your child enter the building with a Freedom Dance member of staff having passed the temperature check.

Parents of any anxious little under 6 years dancers, age 3-5 years, may escort their child to the door provided they maintain social distance with the Freedom Dance staff and other parents. Any child under 6 who requires assistance with shoes or settling in may quickly escort their child into the entrance hall provided a suitable face covering is worn at all times and hands sanitised on entry. Once the child has entered the studio hall the parent must vacate the building.

All under 6 years pupils’ parents must all stay in the car park for the duration of class in case of any settling issues.

All pupils will immediately have their temperature taken when they reach the front of the queue through our infra-red thermometer. If the temperature is lower than 37. 8 degrees the pupil will be allowed to enter and sanitise their hands. Any child with a fever must be immediately isolated and collected by their parents.

If someone in the child's household develops COVID-19 symptoms and the child is free from symptoms, the child would still be expected to isolate for 14 days.

Only children Age 5 and above are currently eligible for COVID-19 testing should they display symptoms of COVID-19. If a test is deemed necessary to be carried out and the test is negative the pupil would be permitted to resume attendance once deemed well enough. Fellow household members would then be able to cease isolation.

If a pupil or member of their household tests positive for COVID-19, you will need to notify us immediately and that student will no longer be able to attend on-site. The bubble the household belongs to will immediately be removed from on-site activities and teaching will be transferred online. The Freedom Dance staff will then be tested should any symptoms arise. We will then follow advice from Public Health England as this continuously evolving.

The main points are you MUST advise if you experience COVID-19 symptoms in your household. You must notify CLAIRE BEDDOWS immediately and include Freedom Dance within your track and trace submission.

-      Educational settings are currently re-open for select year groups, and opening for all year groups in September

-      OOSS can open from the beginning of the school summer holidays

-      Social distancing is 2m (or 1m+ if 2m is not possible or with risk mitigation)

-      Anyone who is showing symptoms of a cough and/or fever are to self-isolate for 10 days

-      To distribute appropriate sections to parents and customers as needed

REVIEW AND MONITORING OF PROCEDURE:

FREEDOM DANCE will continue to review and update this procedure as more information becomes available.

Monitoring is part of management procedure and will be enforced by all staff.

THE PROCEDURE IS BASED ON THE BELOW PRINCIPLES:

-      The welfare of FREEDOM DANCE pupils, staff and volunteers is paramount

-      All staff and volunteers are responsible for ensuring this procedure is followed

-      It is the role of every FREEDOM DANCE stakeholder to minimise the risk of spreading COVID-19

-      FREEDOM DANCE is committed to following the advice of the UK Government, NHS and Public Health England

SITE MANAGEMENT:

Max Teacher: Student Ratio = 2:15

All current social distancing measures will be implemented throughout this procedure.

Groups of no more than 15 students will be supervised by 1 or 2 teachers. For the purposes of child-friendly and age appropriateness FREEDOM DANCE will call these groups “bubbles”.  There is to be no cross contamination between bubbles as students will not mix and spaces will be deep cleaned between group’s use.  Floor will be sanitised and all touch points.

To attend classes, parents must agree to a health questionnaire being completed to confirm no one in the household has any symptoms or has been told to self-isolate. Parents must sign to agree to inform Freedom Dance should the health of anyone in their household require isolation or be showing Covid-19 symptoms. Parents must agree not to bring their child if there is a health concern,

Children may supply their own PPE equipment, but it is not the responsibility of teachers to ensure it is used or worn correctly. It is not to be worn during physical activity.

No parents will be allowed in the premises, they must drop off and collect at separate entry and exit points. A one-way system will be in operation.

Upon arrival, all students are to line up socially distanced in line with the markers on the wall.

All pupils will immediately have their temperature taken when the reach the front of the queue through our infra-red thermometer. If the temperature is lower than 37. 8 degrees the pupil will be allowed to enter and sanitise their hands. Any child with a fever must be immediately isolated and collected by their parents.

Parents of pupils age 6 years + must ideally remain in the car and witness their child enter the building with a Freedom Dance member of staff having passed the temperature check.  Staggered drop off and collection times are to ensure no over-crowding, congestion or gathering and 2m markers will be laid out to ensure any queuing results in social distancing.

Parents of any anxious little under 6 years dancers, age 3-5 years, may escort their child to the door provided they maintain social distance with the Freedom Dance staff and other parents. Any child under 6 who requires assistance with shoes or settling in may quickly escort their child into the entrance hall provided a suitable face covering is worn at all times. Once the child has entered the studio hall the parent must vacate the building.

Under 6 years pupils’ parents must all stay in the car park for the duration of class in case of any settling issues.

Student’s should arrive in uniform ready to participate – no changing clothing permitted. Only shoes and a jacket/top will be permitted in order to limit personal belongings. Phones will be out of use during classes and must be on silent.

Students will be then taken to the space used for their classes where they will have been allocated a 3m2 space to use throughout their session. 1m walkways have also been marked out clearly.

Students will all hand sanitise prior to entering the studio hall taking their shoes and jacket.

Pupil may bring their own yoga blocks for use during class, but they must be labelled and only for the sole use of the owner. No sharing equipment.

Drink breaks and the use of corridors and toilets will be closely monitored to ensure social distancing is always upheld. This will be through staggered breaks, toilet supervision and a one-way corridor system.

Voices will not be permitted to be raised as this is a potential COVID- 19 risk for transmission.

Any student/teacher or family member who is tested positive for COVID-19 up to two weeks post attendance at a FREEDOM DANCE class must immediately inform Claire Beddows. The bubble that is affected will immediately be notified including students/parents/teachers. Should this occur while classes are running, the bubble affected will be shut down, and spaces deep cleaned immediately follow government guidance “COVID-19: cleaning in non-healthcare settings”.

If a student is incapable of following new rules within the studio FREEDOM DANCE as mentioned in our student behaviour policy, has the right to remove the student from classes. This will be on a case-by-case basis and no refund will be offered.

Any pupil required to isolate may follow the class on Zoom, but no refunds will be issued and fees for the place in the bubble will be due.

Classes must be paid for upfront, in advance of the classes commencing. We must run a cashless system with all payments by BACS/online banking. No class fees paid, no admittance to class. FREEDOM DANCE will not issue any refunds or additional classes for sessions missed. As places are limited in each bubble, classes must be contracted for the month – parents will be invoiced for the month once their child’s place is confirmed in a bubble. For the month of August only, anyone unable to make the one payment I will permit split payment, but you will be contracted and accountable for the full month payment for your child’s place. 2 payments 1st and 15th if unable to pay in one payment. All parents will be sent a link to sign up to our new Class for Kids Freedom Booking system. This enables us to operate cashless, have pre-bookings which is essential under Government guidelines and completes our Track and Trace requirements. This will streamline all bookings and make everyone’s payments simple and straightforward via BACS or debit card.

Due to expenses to ensure social distancing, PPE and deep cleaning requirements, huge increase in hall hire costs due to the splitting of the class into bubbles and reduced numbers in each class fees will be

£6.50 per class x 2 sessions = £13 per week plus 1 zoom class free

No refunds and each place must be pre-booked for each bubble. If payments are more than 3 days late a £5 late fee will be charged for administration. If payment is still outstanding after 10 days a further £5 is added.  Once you forfeit your place we have limited opportunity to reinstate your place if the bubble at this time is full. We will be able to build an additional bubble if we have demand for new starters.

FREEDOM DANCE STAFF:

FREEDOM DANCE must ensure they have disinfectant spray/wipes before every session. Staff must also ensure that they have the full PPE equipment provided by FREEDOM DANCE to be able to administer first aid.

All staff must immediately wash their hands for the prescribed 20 second period upon arrival at site and deep clean all rooms and equipment (if this is not done by the venue). They must also check their own temperature, record it and complete the staff health questionnaire.

Staff then must use disinfectant spray/wipes to clean any high contact points, including (but not limited to):

Upon teacher arrival at site, all teachers must wash their hands and have their temperature checked (which is recorded). Teachers must also be briefed daily and provided antibacterial spray/wipes and gloves if needed. They must also complete the staff health questionnaire.

Upon student arrival at site, site managers must ensure all parents have advised of any changes to the student health form before allowing their child(ren) on to site. Attendees then must have their temperature checked (which is recorded) and then hand sanitise at the sanitising stations.

ALL teachers must regularly wash their hands.

Between each bubble class the teacher/staff must ensure the floor is mopped/sanitised and all touch points.

Between each class site managers must again deep clean any space used and use disinfectant spray/wipes to clean any high contact points, including (but not limited to):

-      Dance floor

-      Equipment used in class

Teachers are expected to ventilate classes as much as possible, including opening doors and windows to encourage air flow.

If a student is incapable of following social distancing guidelines or any new rules established to make FREEDOM DANCE COVID-19 secure, the teacher must use their discretion in order to control the situation. This could include behaviour management and/or result in the child’s removal from classes.

Staff are expected to follow other NHS guidelines to avoid spreading the virus including washing hands before/after eating and reporting any potential symptoms/confirmed diagnoses to the office as a matter of urgency.

TEACHER/VOLUNTEER PROCEEDURE:

All teachers and volunteers must immediately wash their hands for the prescribed 20 second period upon arrival at site. They must also do this between every class.

Teachers and volunteers are expected to student hand sanitising / washing between lessons and deep cleaning during changeover.

During operation, any communal space for adults must be cleaned down between teachers of separate bubbles groups. Where resources are available, staff must use separate equipment. Teachers must clean before and after use of the kitchen and any cups/kettles/fridge/refreshment containers must be wiped with antibacterial wipes/sprays.

If teachers/volunteers are teaching at schools other than FREEDOM DANCE, a meticulous log of these sessions must be kept in order to assist NHS track and trace and FREEDOM DANCE in safeguarding students.

If a student breaks new social distancing rules, or any other rule implemented by FREEDOM DANCE to safeguard students, Claire Beddows must be immediately informed.

Teachers and Volunteers are expected to follow other FREEDOM DANCE’s procedure, social distancing and NHS guidelines to avoid spreading the virus including washing hands before/after and reporting any potential symptoms/confirmed diagnoses to the office as a matter of urgency.

SAFEGUARDING: FREEDOM DANCE PUPIL CONDUCT POLICY

Policy:

Behaviour Policy (Students)

Date Adopted:

Date of last review:  30/07/2020

To be reviewed next before/on: Annually

Purpose and Statement:

Children’s learning in all areas, academic, social and personal is best supported in an environment where children feel happy, safe, valued and motivated to achieve. At [FREEDOM DANCE we create a positive learning environment that ensures our approach to behaviour management and discipline is consistent and understood by all staff, pupils and parents.

We firmly believe that the best way to ensure high standards of discipline is to recognise achievement and celebrate success. To support this, we believe that FREEDOM DANCE needs a system of rewards for good and improving behaviour and sanctions where standards fall below our expectations. These rewards and sanctions must be applied consistently and fairly.

Main Aims for the policy:

·       To outline the MTA’s expectations of behaviour and the systems used

·       To ensure we promote and develop good behaviour

·       To promote good choices which lead to effective relationships so that everyone can support each other, work together and learn well

·       To help children to become positive, responsible and increasingly independent members of FREEDOM DANCE and wider community

 Distribution:

·       To all staff and volunteers

·       This policy will be made available to members of the public on request

·       Confirmation of receipt of information - Signed statement from recipient to be held on file

Review and monitoring of policy:

·       Reviewed annually or in instances of legislative change

·       Monitoring is part of Management and Supervision

The following policy is based on the below principles:

·       All members of the FREEDOM DANCE community have a right to expect that they learn and learn in a safe place.

·       FREEDOM DANCE expects every member of its community to behave in a considerate way towards others.

·       There will be a zero tolerance of violence, threatening behaviour and disorderly conduct, including abuse in all forms, against FREEDOM DANCE staff or other members of the FREEDOM DANCE community.

·        Where such behaviour does occur, action will be taken to deal with the person or persons concerned.

What do we mean by Abusive or Threatening Behaviour?

The Public Order Act 1986 defines “disorderly conduct” as: verbal abuse, threatening abusive or insulting words or behaviour or any disorderly behaviour whereby a person is caused alarm, harassment or distress.

“Threatening behaviour” is when a person fears that violence or threat of violence is likely to be provoked. In an FREEDOM DANCE  context, this could mean a child shouting at a member of staff, either in person or on the phone; acting aggressively towards staff or other students, including using intimidating body language, as well as actual violence. It also covers comments posted on social networking sites or situations where members of staff are approached off premises.

Expectations:

We believe that good behaviour is essential to enable all our pupils to achieve their full potential. Good behaviour promotes effective learning; effective teaching and learning promotes good behaviour.

No pupil will be allowed to behave in a manner which adversely affects the learning opportunities of others.

We believe it is important for children to be aware of their behaviour and its impact on others. Pupils need to take responsibility for their behaviour and be actively involved in finding solutions.

The school has a set of golden rules of behaviour which are aimed at promoting respect, honesty and good relationships, so that people can work together in a supportive atmosphere with the common purpose of helping everyone to learn, to be creative, to grow emotionally and physically and to be happy.

Do be gentle - Do not hurt anyone

Do be kind and helpful - Do not hurt people's feelings

Do work hard - Do not waste your and other people's time and always give 100% effort

Do look after property - Do not waste or damage things

Do listen to people - Do not interrupt

Do be honest - Do not cover up the truth

FREEDOM DANCE expects every member of the school community to behave in a considerate way towards others. Central to this is choice: we refer to good choices and bad choices. By using the language of choice, we:

·       promote self-management of behaviour and enable some reflection on what behavioural choices exist;

·       avoid labelling children – instead we refer to the choices we all make and that we should always try to make good choices.

Praise is key to nurturing motivated, engaged children who make good choices and consequently build positive relationships. Throughout school, we aim to ‘catch’ good behaviour. Children are encouraged to make good choices at all times. They will be supported to:

·       follow the golden rules

·       understand what good behaviour means

·       be aware of their behaviour and its’ impact on others

·       take responsibility for their actions

·       learn to care for themselves and each other

Staff Will:

·        Ensure all children are clear about our expectations of behaviour at the beginning of the term and remind them during classes

·        Treat each child fairly, with respect and understanding

·        Regularly discuss the golden rules and remind children of FREEDOM DANCE’s expectations

·         Plan quality learning tasks which engage and motivate learners

·         Praise good choices, behaviour and achievements

·          Ensure they are fully familiar with the children’s needs and make every effort to be positive, motivational and inspiring – thus minimising the risk of poor behaviour during lessons

·           Follow the guidance in the disciplinary policy in a fair and honest way

·            Use FREEDOM DANCE principal CLAIRE BEDDOWS guidance to ensure they are consistent when deciding on consequences

·           Keep a record and relevant notes on any misbehaviour

·            Keep parents/carers informed about their child’s behaviour and relationships

·            Ensure the health, safety and welfare of all children

We expect parents and carers to:

·       Be aware of FREEDOM DANCE ]’s expectations of behaviour

·       Celebrate their child’s achievements and show an interest in their FREEDOM DANCE  classes and always be supportive and give positive feedback at competitions

·       Ensure that children arrive at FREEDOM DANCE  on time

·       Work with FREEDOM DANCE to model high expectations of behaviour

·       Work with FREEDOM DANCE to support us in improving children’s behaviour

·       Act promptly at the request of FREEDOM DANCE in the instance of a discipline problem

·       Support FREEDOM DANCE decision when applying consequences

 Bullying/Violence:

FREEDOM DANCE has a zero-tolerance bullying and violence policy.

Students who bully other members of the FREEDOM DANCE community and/or use physical violence will have their membership revoked and they will be asked to leave.

Bullying is unacceptable behaviour used by an individual or group, usually repeated over time, that intentionally hurts another individual or group either physically or emotionally.

 Bullying can be:

·       Emotional - being unfriendly, excluding, tormenting (e.g. hiding property, threatening gestures)

·       Physical - pushing, kicking, biting, hitting, punching or any use of violence

·       Racial - racial taunts, graffiti, gestures etc.

·       Homophobic - because of, or focussing on the issue of sexuality

·       Sexual - unwanted physical contact or sexually abusive comments

·       Verbal - name-calling, sarcasm, spreading rumours, teasing etc.

·       Cyber - All areas of internet, such as email and internet chat, Twitter, Facebook misuse etc. Mobile threats by text messaging and calls, Misuse of associated technology, i.e. camera and video facilities, Ipad, games consoles etc.

 Bullying may be related to:

·       Race, Gender, Religion, Culture, SEN or disability, Appearance or health condition, Home circumstances, incl Young carers and poverty, Sexual orientation, sexism, or sexual bullying, homophobia

Bullying can take place in the classroom, playground, toilets, to and from FREEDOM DANCE, on trips and cyberspace. It can take place in group activities and between families in the local community.

Students must not hesitate to report bullying to any adult on site. Volunteers and staff will help any student/family who are the victim of any of these behaviours. Staff will investigate any allegation of bullying, which may result in any perpetrator being asked to leave.

Staff remain vigilant about bullying behaviours and approach this in the same way as any other category of Child Abuse; that is, do not wait to be told before you raise concerns or deal directly with the matter. Children may not be aware that they are being bullied; because they may be too young or have a level of Special Educational Needs which means that they may be unable to realise what others may be doing to them.

The ethos and working philosophy of FREEDOM DANCE means that all staff actively encourage children to have respect for each other and for other people’s property. Good and kind/polite behaviour is regularly acknowledged and rewarded.

 Peer on Peer Abuse:

Bullying and violence is not the only form of peer on peer abuse FREEDOM DANCE students may experience, both at FREEDOM DANCE or in the wider community. Any form of peer-on-peer abuse will result in the perpetrator being asked to leave FREEDOM DANCE and may result in legal, criminal or social investigation.

Examples of peer on peer abuse may include, but are not limited to:

·       Physical abuse e.g. (biting, hitting, kicking, hair pulling etc.)

·       Sexually harmful behaviour/sexual abuse e.g. (inappropriate sexual language, touching, sexual assault etc.)

·       Bullying (physical, name calling, homophobic etc.)

·       Cyber bullying

·       Sexting

·       Initiation/Hazing

·       Prejudiced Behaviour

·       Teenage relationship abuse

FREEDOM DANCE will deal with any situation of peer abuse immediately and sensitively.

 Special Needs:

Whilst every effort is made to ensure our procedures support children to make good choices, we know that some children have additional needs. When this happens, we will work closely with parents/carers to provide additional interventions which may include:

·       Establishing an individual behaviour plan

·       Support from the parents

FREEDOM DANCE is unable to provide 1-to-1 support, which is made clear to any parent at the time of booking should they disclose additional needs information to us.

FREEDOM DANCE will do everything within our power to integrate children with additional needs into our classes, however, should behaviour become disruptive in any way, FREEDOM DANCE must reserve the right to ask children to rescind membership.

 Managing Behavioural Challenges:

FREEDOM DANCE is an extra-curricular activity, and as such we expect that students want to attend classes. Behavioural difficulties are rare, but FREEDOM DANCE sometimes does have to manage situations.

Staff are instructed to never demean or undermine pupils, their parents or carers, or colleagues. Staff must also never raise their voice beyond what is appropriate and must never lose their temper.

Staff are expected to consult with the principal, CLAIRE BEDDOWS before initiating any type of disciplinary measures.

 Examples of appropriate disciplinary techniques:

Splitting up groups who are not paying attention

Setting clear objectives and behavioural expectations

Rewarding good, positive behaviour (praise and FREEDOM DANCE also allow stickers)

Time outs

Speaking to troublemakers

 Examples of inappropriate disciplinary techniques:

Bribery of any kind (using sweets, money etc.)

Raising voices/yelling

Violence or threats of violence

For more serious behavioural problems, FREEDOM DANCE use a traffic light system. This can only be initiated and advanced by CLAIRE BEDDOWS

The Traffic Light System is a ‘three strikes’ technique. A student is put on the traffic light system after other disciplinary techniques have failed. The begin with a green warning.

 Green Warning:

Student is told they have been put on a green warning because their behaviour has led to this.  CLAIREB EDDOWS will use tangible examples and not be vague about the reasons for this action. Parents/Carers will also be told in person and in writing.

 Orange Warning:

Student is told why their warning has been advanced by CLAIRE BEDDOWS with a tangible example. Parents/Carers will also be told in person and in writing.

 Red Warning:

Student is told why their warning has been advanced by CLAIRE BEDDOWS with a tangible example. It is made clear that this is the student’s final chance. Parents/Carers will also be told in person and in writing.

If a student continues to misbehave, they will be asked to leave FREEDOM DANCE

BEHAVIOUR AT COMPETITIONS

At competitions all pupils are expected to behave respectfully to all parties, their teachers, parents, venue staff and promoters and other members of the public attending the event. Any breaches of behaviour will be addressed and attendance at competitions maybe restricted until behaviour can improve. At all times you are representing FREEDOM DANCE and you must uphold the schools reputation and not bring it into disrepute. No displays of aggression, frustration can be dealt with privately not publicly. Always congratulate your fellow competitors from the school, we may be doing an individual event but we are a team and teamspirit and sportsmanship is to be championed at all times. Learn to celebrate success and handle defeat graciously. These are life lessons not just dance and it teaches our children to become well rounded adults.
